Triangles Bag

This bag was created by Anne-marie Daniel for an urgent appeal recently made

by the UK charity United by Wool.

Triangles Bag

She was inspired by one of my popular baby blanket designs - Triangles Baby Blanket.

This sweet bag is so lovely that I wanted to share it with you all - with Anne-marie's permission of course !


Anne-marie's / Marion Leys Triangles Bag


Materials:


Around 40 grams of Aran or UK chunky wool. Or you could use two balls of any DK wool together.

5 mm single pointed needles.


Instructions:

Bag is worked in two pieces and joined together along the bottom and up the sides to complete.


Side 1

Cast on 37 stitches using main colour.

Row 1 Sl1, knit to end.

Rows 2-6 Repeat row 1

If using two different coloured yarns, break yarn or carry up the side of your work.


Join in second coloured yarn.

Commence triangle pattern as follows:

Row 1 Sl1, Knit to end.

Row 2 Sl1, Purl to last st, K1.

Row 3 Sl1, *P1, K6* to last st, K1

Row 4 Sl1, *P5, K2* to last st, K1

Row 5 Sl1, *P3, K4* to last st, k1

Row 6 Sl1, *P3, K4* to last st, K1

Row 7 Sl1, *P5, K2* to last st, K1

Row 8 Sl1, *P1, K6* to last st, K1


Rejoin original coloured yarn.

Repeat rows 1 to 8 of the triangle pattern twice more.


Rejoin second colour yarn and work rows 1 to 8 of the triangle pattern.

Break off Yarn.


Rejoin main colour and knit 6 rows.

Cast off loosly.


Repeat to make a second side.

Straps/Handles

You can make these to the length you prefer, I followed the stitch patterns below.

Cast on 90 stitches.

Knit 4 rows

Cast off loosly.


To make up

Sew along 3 sides of your finished pieces, up both sides and across the bottom. Attach handles to the inside of your finished bag.
